The updated Heavy Duty I/M regulations require more frequent opacity testing and OBD data submissions than in previous years. Falling behind on these processes can jeopardize the status of your CAARB compliance certificate. Maintaining accurate records is vital for ensuring your business continues to thrive.

We maintain digital copies of compliance data for each vehicle in your fleet. With our diesel recordkeeping services, we can alert you to upcoming deadlines and provide necessary documentation to resolve any issues. The ACF regulation sets a pathway to transition medium- and heavy-duty vehicles from diesel engines to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) by 2042,
aiming for a significant reduction in carbon Bullet listemissions across California.
2024: State and local government fleets must ensure that 50% of new vehicle purchases are ZEVs, increasing to 100% by 2027.
2025: High-priority and federal fleets must begin phasing out internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles as they reach the end of their useful life and replace them exclusively with ZEVs.
2035: All drayage trucks (vehicles transporting goods to and from ports and railyards) must be ZEVs.
2036: Manufacturers will only be allowed to sell medium- and heavy-duty ZEVs in California.
2042: All remaining vehicles covered by the regulation must be ZEVs.

CAARB regulations require that diesel equipment be registered with the state, along with data about emissions. Failing to submit accurate records can result in fines and registration holds. With the initiation of the CAARB HD I/M program, having quick access to your fleet information is critical.
You must keep smoke opacity testing results and other records for at least two years. Digital recordkeeping makes it easy to access older information.
You may want to keep personal copies of some records, but they can become increasingly difficult to organize as your fleet grows. By allowing us to handle the recordkeeping, you eliminate a major headache from your business.
The HD I/M program requires emissions data submission for each vehicle twice a year. However, if a remote testing station identifies a failed test, you may need to file information unexpectedly.
CARB regulations apply to both on-road and off-road diesel equipment, though the requirements vary. For instance, the HD I/M regulations primarily target heavy-duty on-road vehicles. We can also assist you in keeping other equipment, such as TRUs and off-road vehicles, in CARB compliance.
